Why not spend an afternoon visiting our Members' Exhibition at the Porcupine Pantry at Penshurst Place - lots of pictures, just perfect for those special Christmas presents! And if you've got another hour to spare, head over to the Ashdown Forest Centre to see Mary Harris's exhibition, "Treasured Trees". See more details about this here, along with information of an exhibition at the Menier Chocolate Factory, featuring the work of another of our members, Claire Higgot. Happy viewing!

![]() A great new addition to Crowborough Arts' activities for 2017 has been 'Art in the Garden' - an initiative between Penshurst Place and CA, which saw our artists being invited to draw and paint in the estate gardens free of charge throughout the season. This initiative proved popular with artists and public alike and the sight of one or more easels set up in the formal gardens became familiar on fine days. At last night's Winter Exhibition launch, Penshurst's General Manager, Ben Thomas, announced that the scheme would be continued next year, which is great news for CA. If you missed out this year, do come along next season - we will be announcing details of how to get your free pass early in 2108 - and keep an eye on the website and newsletter for details of special Art in the Garden events during the year. ![]() Last night, there was a great turnout for the launch of our 5th annual Winter Art Exhibition at Penshurst Place. General Manager Ben Thomas making his welcome speech last night, said the exhibition has now become a Penshurst Institution and the start of the estate's Christmas celebrations! There were over 90 submissions from about 30 artists this year - a bumper crop! We can only hang between 35 and 40 canvases in the space, and the standard was so high this year, we were spoilt for choice. Fortunately, we were able to accept at least one piece of work from almost everyone. There is a special section featuring work actually produced in the gardens at Penshurst, and we're sure these will prove popular with the Christmas-present-seeking-art buying-coffee lovers of the surrounding area! If you couldn't make the launch last night, the exhibition is on until Christmas, so do plan a trip to Penshurst before then and visit the fabulous gift shop while you're there, alongside the cafe exhibition. Grace Amelia Barnard has launched a range of great gift ideas using her own quirky and cool designs. Grace went to school at Beacon Community College in Crowborough and then went on to do a degree in Graphic Design at Leeds University. She's currently an art worker for a major London advertising agency, and in her spare time creates surface designs. Be ahead of the game and give something unique this Christmas! ![]() If you're thinking of submitting some artwork for CA's annual exhibition at Penshurst Place, there's only a week or so before the selection day on Thursday 9th November. This is a great opportunity to have your work seen by lots of people in a busy cafe - many of whom are looking for good ideas for Christmas presents! Everyone is invited to the launch evening at 6 pm on the 15th November - come and have a glass of wine and some nibbles while browsing the paintings, drawings and art photographs on display. See our Visual Arts page for details of submissions. Above: Silver Birches in the Snow by Erica Adams - sold at a previous Winter Art Exhibition at Penshurst Place. |
