CA Bursary - For ALL Ages!

CA has been awarding bursaries for four years now, and we’re proud to have given a helping hand to eight worthy applicants so far. Just recently, all our recipients have been youngsters at the start of their careers. Don’t forget that the awards, of up to £500, are for all ages! Maybe you’ve taken up a new artistic interest in retirement? We can offer up to £500 towards a course, some equipment or anything else that will support your endeavours. Go to our website (www.crowborough-arts.org.uk) to find out how to apply.

rebecca lindsay

CA’s latest bursary has been awarded to Rebecca Lindsay. Rebecca is currently studying for her PhD with the English Literature Department at Reading University. She has been invited to give a paper at the International Research Society for Children’s Literature Congress in Toronto in July of this year. Her paper is on “The Real and Ideological Child”. We were delighted to make up a shortfall in her funding for travel and accommodation. Rebecca is a former pupil at Beacon Community College and, a talented actress, has performed at several Crowborough Arts events.

bethan downing

Bethan Downing received a CA award towards dance kit three years ago, when she gained a place to train in musical theatre at the Arts Educational Schools in London. She graduates this year and is making her West End debut in the new musical “Young Frankenstein”. This is a fantastic achievement in such a competitive profession and we wish Bethan all the best for a successful run.

rose barnard

Alice Rose Barnard, one of our first bursary recipients, put her award towards recording some of her own songs. Since then, she has gigged both locally and in London, and after a spell in Cyprus last year, she is currently working as a singer/entertainer in one of Thomas Cook’s prestigious “Sentido” hotels in Majorca.
